Craft a Quiz

One of the many ways AI can help you save time is by creating assessments. QuestionWell is an online tool that does just that. It can generate questions based on a reading or even a YouTube video! It can even export the questions to popular platforms like Google Forms, Canvas, or Kahoot, saving you even more time.

There’s both a free and paid version. The paid version allows for even more options and flexibility, but the free version is still extremely helpful itself.

We’ll give you a quick walkthrough of using QuestionWell to create a multiple choice quiz on Google Forms.

Start here.

First, you’ll log in with either your Microsoft or Google Account. (We’re going with Google.) You’ll be prompted to select what can be accessed with QuestionWell.

If you’re logging in with a Google account, you’ll need to make sure the top box is checked if you want to be able to export your questions to a Google Form.

Now all you have to do is plug and play.

You’ll enter the topic, subject, and grade. Select the language you want the questions to be written in. Then you can either copy and paste an entire reading up to 1000 words or link to a web article or YouTube video. It’s really that simple. You can even enter in your own learning outcomes if you’d like.

We’re going to try it out with an excerpt of an article from TechTarget about the scientific method. We set our topic, subject, and grade to scientific method biology 6th grade. We’re going to let QuestionWell come up with our learning outcomes.

You can see there are a few more options available with the paid plan like a larger word count and a wider variety of question types like short answers. Multiple choice comes with the free version, so that’s what we’re going to use.

Once you click “Generate Set,” QuestionWell creates a whole host of questions that can be filtered by Learning Outcomes. You can scroll through all the questions it generated and select the ones you’d like to use.

From there, you can choose to print them. (You can even print yourself a version with the answers!) Or you can export them to a variety of platforms including Google Forms, Kahoot, Canvas, Quizlet, and more.

We’re going to export them to Google Forms. Expand the “Export” menu on the left side and select “Google Forms.”

Ta-da! The quiz is ready to take. The answer key is built in so there’s immediate feedback upon completion.
